In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Pittsburgh; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Pennsylvania are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 amβ9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (412) 341-2555. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, sesameinn.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 679 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh and suggests consistent service.
Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

DON'T RECOMMEND! This used to be one of the best places for Chinese food. We would order from here at least 10 times or more, a year. BUT...This past year, the flavor of the food is bland. Last couple of times, we thought it was just a fluke that the flavor was basically non-existent. Well, today just proved that the flavor is just not there anymore. We Dine-in a few months back and 2 or 3 take-outs in between, all the same, with No flavor, but today some of the vegetables tasted as if they weren't washed (dirty taste) and some tasted as if they were going bad (hopefully we don't get sick either way). They were really nasty tasting. They just tasted like some type of sesame oil. It was supposed to be garlic flavored sauce. Nope. The noodles, beef and vegetables (from the beef lo-mein) were just plain with no flavor also. Speaking of the beef.. where was it? Again very little beef, very little vegetables, just mostly (drying out, old) noodles. If you call and complain, they act like they don't understand what's wrong. We won't be ordering from there again. DON'T RECOMMEND!

Gosh I miss this place. Still some of the best Chinese food I've had. We were in Pittsburgh for a quick trip and had to go here. Amazing chicken is still one of my favorites. Thai basil chicken was also really good (I would have preferred more chicken to all of the vegetables) and we had a Pittsburgh roll and spider roll. Not a single leftover on the table. Also wasn't too busy for 6p on a Saturday night. Would definitely recommend if you haven't had it before.

The jazz music playing made for a relaxing lunch. Our server was so thorough and polite. Drinks brought promptly. Order taken quickly. Refills given when needed. The sushi π£π€π£ was not only delicious but beautiful too! Everything was so seamless and our conversation was flowing that I forgot to take pictures of the food. I can't wait to go back!

We enjoyed our meal. It was tasty and a fair price. Waiter didn't smother, didn't forget about us. Good service. The timing was excellent. No complaints.

overall, a really nice dinner & recommend checking out for yourself. food arrived quickly, well portioned for cost and satisfying enough to take home the leftover shrimp glazing to warm up and eat over rice π seems to be a popular place on a Saturday evening for dinner, yet only waited 15 minutes to be seated without a reservation, and had quality service from an experienced server who was swift and attentive. seating was comfortable, restrooms clean.
